Porsche 911 T 2.0 Targa - 1969

Porsche 911 T 2.0 Targa - 1969

From the beginning Porsche knew that a topless version of their high-performance sports car could boost sales figures especially in sunny California. Safety regulations were however strict for cabriolets and made it almost impossible to get an open car approved for the US market. Porsches engineers proved creative and came out with a car with a fixed roll bar in stainless steel and a detachable aluminum/vinyl roof that was also collapsible and fitted nicely in the front booth when not in use. Porsche called their new safety cabriolet Targa, which is the Italian word for “shield” and also gave associations to the famous Sicilian race on public roads the Targa Florio where Porsche had celebrated numerous wins with their race cars. The 911 Targa was an immediate success and attracted a new audience to the 911.

This 1969 911T 2.0 has just been subject of a part restoration with body taken to bare metal and finished in original Irish green as delivered from factory. New black leather upholstery and carpets finishes this beautiful matching numbers and colors car. It was sold new in Germany and is now with a Danish registration.
